Paul Klee Workshop (Grades 8-12)

This workshop is part history and part hands on art workshop.

In the first half hour, we learn about the artist Paul Klee and look at his work. Paul Klee was known as the “father of abstract art” and is one of the most celebrated artists of the 20th Century. He was born in Switzerland. During the course of his career, he not only participated in various art movements, but he was also one of the leading forces in many of these movements. Some of the forms he worked on during his career include expressionism, cubism, and surrealism.

The remaining workshop will be exploring techniques of the artist with focus on ink transfers and watercolors using the art of lettering.

It is not necessary to bring anything to this workshop, but since Paul Klee believed that all art comes directly from nature, it would be great if you can bring in bits of nature objects you may have collected such as shells, rocks, pressed flowers or any such collections.

Since we are working with oil paint, you might want to wear an old t-shirt over your clothes
