Pysanky: Ukrainian Egg Decorating

A pysanka (singular) is a Ukrainian Easter egg decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resistant method. The designs are not actually painted on, but rather written, in beeswax. Local artist Olga Kobryn will host this lecture about this ancient art of egg decorating and will explain the methods, symbols and colors used. A short film about pysanky by Slavko Novitsky will also be shown.

Location: Old Bridge Public Library – One Old Bridge Plaza, Old Bridge NJ, 08857.
