Master kora player Yacouba Sissoko plays a set of songs that journey from the royal courts of the 13th Century Mande empire to the present soul and rhythm of his newfound home in Harlem. Sissoko will play traditional Malian folk songs and new instrumental compositions from his recently released solo album Siya. Sissoko hails from Mali, a country deeply steeped in music tradition. Sissoko’s approachability, combined with his mastery of the instrument and strong vocals will leave you lifted and inspired.
