The Fine Art of Black & White Photography

The New Brunswick Free Public Library presents its 12th Annual Photography Contest and Exhibit in 2019! The theme this year is "Love and Unity." The contest submission form and more information can be found at (Deadline for contest submission is May 10th, 2019.) Along with the contest, the library offers free photography workshops presented by professional photographers. All three workshops will be held in the library's Carl T. Valenti Community Room. On this evening, the workshop will be "The Fine Art of Black & White Photography" led by professional photographer & speaker Michael S. Miller.

Photography began in 1826 with the first latent image in black and white. The black and white photograph in today’s digital world is still a timeless art form. To create an inspiring black and white photograph still requires process and emotional connection to the content that you are photographing. Renowned photographer Michael S. Miller will share with you his thoughts on black and white photography, how to simplify the technical aspect with a few simple techniques, minimizing the complexity of today’s technology and getting down to the art of black and white photography.

Grant funding has been provided by the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders through a grant provided by New Jersey State Council on the Arts / Department of State.

Location: New Brunswick Public Library – 60 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.

Audience: All ages
