How did life in the shtetls (small Jewish villages) of Eastern Europe prepare Jewish women for life in the New World? Even though they were two very different worlds, there were some significant similarities. This discussion will explore how, in America, these women profited from more opportunities but suffered in their personal lives. Presented by Leslie Fishbein, Associate Professor of American Studies at Rutgers University, the program is funded by the NJ Council for the Humanities, and made possible in part by the NEH and the NJCH.
Location: Old Bridge Public Library – One Old Bridge Plaza, Old Bridge NJ, 08857.
