Anne & Ridley Enslow

Join costumed colonial musicians Anne and Ridley Enslow as they perform "Holidays of Our Founding Fathers" featuring songs about Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton and other founding fathers and how they celebrated winter traditions, such as New Year's and Christmas in the 18th century. Anne plays a colonial instrument with over 100 strings called the hammered dulcimer and Ridley plays a violin made in 1776. Both performers sing and an entertaining description precedes every tune explaining how it fits into American history: an engrossing and informative performance!

Location: Elizabeth Public Library – Main Branch – 11 South Broad Street Elizabeth, NJ 07202.

Springsteen and his Layered Lyrics

Bruce Springsteen expects attentiveness of his listeners. How do we know this? Over the past 50 years, Springsteen has written songs and created music that have been experienced by countless fans. But many don’t know the extent to which his work has been influenced by the American folk tradition. Through experimental reinterpretation and the creation of new traditions, The Boss has worked within known folk traditions, but at the same time, created new sounds and messages. In this session, participants can learn about some of the works that have influenced one of Jersey’s most celebrated musical artists.

Location: Edison Township Free Public Library, 340 Plainfield Ave., Edison, NJ 08817-3147.

Removal & Expungement of Criminal Arrests and Convictions

Removal & Expungement of Criminal Arrests and Convictions

The NJ statute on expungement was revised effective April 18, 2016. If someone has been arrested or even had a private criminal complaint signed against them in the Municipal Court, they have a criminal record, even if the charges were dismissed or received a Conditional Discharge under NJ Law past criminal arrests and convictions can be expunged/ erased under certain instances. This program will discuss the expungement process. I served as a Municipal Prosecutor and was amazed how minor criminal guilty pleas and even dismissed charges can affect someone’s ability to get a job or advance a career. Do you have children or someone you know or work with that needs an expungement?
