2018 Fall Concert Series - The Odessa Klezmer Band

The Odessa Klezmer Band brings the joyous dance music of the Klezmorim (Jewish folk musicians) to mainstream America. The band has been in existence playing Klezmer music since 1984 celebrating the great variety and wealth of music heritage of Easter Europe, Ladino, and Middle Eastern music, including polka and czardas. Ed Goldberg leads the Odessa Klezmer Band on accordion and vocals. Ed was brought up playing Eastern European and polka music in the Elmora Section of Elizabeth, NJ!

The Underground Railroad in New Jersey and Secrets at Abbott House (Sandra Troux Mysteries Book 3)

Join the Sandra Troux Mysteries Authors, Dr. Virginia Cornue and Ms. Linda Lombri (writing under the pen name Crystal Sharpe) for a book talk on Book 3 of the Sandra Troux Mysteries, Secrets at Abbott House.

Be whisked away as the book begins on the Underground Railroad at Applegate Farms in Montclair, which saw many slaves to freedom during the Civil War, and takes Sandy, Bobbi, and Lizbet through the Carolina upcountry and to Haiti and back again, to thwart a villainous corporate espionage scheme.

Dr. Virginia Cornue and Ms. Linda Lombri will also present extended information about the Underground Railroad in New Jersey.

Margit Buchhalter Feldman was 17 years old when she arrived in America in 1946 with hopes and dreams for a life filled with possibilities. But for someone who had endured life in a German concentration camp and witnessed the demise of her parents in Auschwitz, the memories would form an invisible shroud around her as she attempted to assimilate into the exuberance of life in post war America.

Terry Hoben shares his experience as a medical response team member in Rwanda during the close of the Hutu-Tutsi genocide in Rwanda. Terry has also served in Iran to support the Kurdish refugee crisis and volunteers his time to educate students about the tragedies of inhumanity and the consequences of discrimination and prejudice.
