Called to Duty: Civil War Training Camps of New Jersey

This documentary tells the story of the recruiting process of the Federal Army, circa 1862. While the story could apply to any Northern State, this film focuses on Monmouth County’s Camp Vredenburgh and the 14th NJ Volunteer Infantry. This production was recorded on location at significant historical sites throughout New Jersey and at the Hanover Junction Train Station in Pennsylvania. While scenes were outlined and narration was scripted, all conversational dialogue is improvised, showing the historic caliber of the living historians and actors.

Tom Burke, author and producer, will introduce the film and conduct a Q & A after the film, which runs about 35 minutes.
